Carla Gauthier
Born and educated in Canada, Carla has lived and worked throughout the US and Europe, and now calls Houston home, where she continues to paint and teach. With formal studies in Fine Art, Art History, and Education, and a foundation in traditional drawing and printmaking, her practice is rooted in strong draftsmanship and thoughtful observation. Exhibited across regional, national, and international stages, her work—held in collections in North America and Europe—captures fleeting, light-filled moments with a quiet narrative quality, like visual fragments of time. A dedicated educator and workshop leader, she explores watercolor through themes such as limited palettes and atmosphere, building luminous layers of color and texture anchored by strong values, expressive shapes, and finely observed detail.
