Color Therapy
for Artists
Presented by Roberta Buckles
Color is one of the most powerful—and often misunderstood—elements in painting. In this presentation, we’ll explore practical strategies for mixing colors accurately, understanding palettes and paint choices, and applying the four pillars of color to create stronger, more cohesive artwork. We’ll also discuss how color relationships influence mood, focus, and visual impact. Participants will leave with greater confidence in making color decisions and overcoming common color challenges in their paintings.

Thursday, August 13
Artist and educator Roberta Buckles has been passionate about color since childhood. After a successful career in national advertising sales, she earned her MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2007 and has dedicated herself to painting and teaching ever since. A former instructor of Color Theory at Texas State University and painting at San Antonio College, Roberta now teaches painting classes in Boerne and San Antonio, with color as a central focus of her work and instruction. She has also led her popular 2-Day Intensive Color Theory Workshop for Painters for more than fifteen years.
